London MarathonLondon hosts many different events every year. But, the London Marathon is an extra special annual event for it is to raise money for charity. Along with New York, Boston, Chicago, and Berlin, London Marathon is part of the World Marathon Majors.

Chris Basher and John Disney, participants of America’s Grand City Marathons 1979 were inspired with the event and had the idea that London should host an event like this. London Marathon was first launched on Sunday, 29 March, 1981. The run covers a distance of 26 miles and 385 yards. In the first year, 20,000 applications were received and 6,747 were accepted. 6,255 participants finished the race successfully.Read more »
