London Stansted Airport

London Stansted Airport is the third largest and busiest airport in the United Kingdom. It is the newest of all passenger airports in the UK and is 50 kilometres northeast of the capital city. The Airport serves European, domestic UK and some continental flights. The airport has only one terminal and attracts over 22 million people every year.

Local Transport

Train

The airport has one station under the terminal. Stansted Express operates services for every 15 minutes to Liverpool Street Station and the travel time is 45 minutes. Trains also operate to Cambridge and the Midlands.

Bus

Bus station at Stansted Airport lies between zones C and D of the short-term car parking area. An express bus operates services to all destinations in London and the travel time is more than 90 minutes. Bus services also operate to other destinations like Oxford and Cambridge.

Car Rental – Stansted Airport

Car rental companies offer a range of vehicles for hire, the bookings are made accordingly. You can book a vehicle at the counters in the airport arrivals.

Taxi

Airport Parking

The short-term parking area is found close to the terminal. The charges are expensive here and are used by business travellers who have return on the same day. There is also another short term parking area and it takes 30 minutes to reach the parking area from the terminal.

Hotels

Stansted Airport has 2 hotels in the airport: Hilton London Stansted( +44(0)1279 680 800) and The New Radisson SAS Hotel (+44 (0)1279 66 1012). Shuttle bus services operate to take passenger to Hilton Hotel. The Radisson Hotel is just a 2 minute walk away from the airport terminal.

Shops and Restaurants

Shops, restaurants, cafes and bars are located at all the terminals. Passengers enjoy shopping as well as eating anything they wish at the airport.

Information

The terminal arrivals has an information counters and any queries for flight arrivals, departures can be made. Queries regarding transportation can also be made at these counters. Throughout the terminal, there are special telephones that are connected to the counters where passengers can contact for any queries.

Business

The Business Center is located close to the terminal and has all facilities for business people. The meeting rooms accommodate 2-30 people and have broadband internet, fax machines, secretarial support and much more. The Hilton Hotel has meeting rooms that can accommodate 300 people and the Radisson Hotel has meeting rooms that can be connected to accommodate a maximum of 400 people.

Disabled Facilities

Wheelchair ramps, adapted elevators, restrooms and telephones are available for the convenience of the disabled. People moving in Wheelchairs can comfortably travel in trains, but the buses to and from Stansted Airport do not allow wheelchairs. Texting telephones are also offered for any help. Also, parking places close to the terminal are reserved separately for disabled people.

Other Services

First Aid contacts can be made through telephones found in different places in the terminal.  ATMs, money exchange offices, wireless internet and computers with internet connection are also available in the terminal. The terminal also houses a silence
