Terminal 1 was started in the year 1968 and was formally inaugurated by Queen Elizabeth II in the year 1969. It was the biggest short-haul terminal among Western Europe. In 2005 the terminal was reconstructed to offer more comfortable seating, retail space and departure lounges. The airport stands out from the throng as it serves millions of passengers like other all through the year.
Now it`s official that the Terminal 1 building will be closing permanently on 30 June 2015 and this was not easy decision, but was made long back even before starting the renovation plans of Terminal 2.
But still passengers need not to be worried as Heathrow Airport has 4 other well equipped passenger terminals that offer great comfort and easy access to all means of transportation.
